One Year Old

It was Scout's Birthday yesterday.
It started good.


But soon we realized that
Scout didn't feel well.
It was coming out both ends.


She had three baths
and several wardrobe changes.


She was a little nervous
about the present at first,


but she warmed up
to him with time.


She was very happy and
playful most of the day.


She is glad to be one.

Auntie Scout

Scout missed the whole Thanksgiving thing.
She went on a long drive
to Albuquerque instead.


It was because
her niece Riley was born.


Her nephew Kaden was born
just one minute later.


They are kind of boring right now
but they should be ready to play soon.

Let the Holidays Begin

Scout went to the
Jubilee of Trees.

All she saw was
a lot of trees.

This is going to be her second Christmas,
but it's hard to remember last year.
There was a lot going on.


She thinks that Santa guy
is a little questionable.
Come to think of it
he looks a little shifty to me.


Why should she care.
It's not like she needs anything from that guy.

Sick and Tired

Scout has not felt well
for more than a week.

We let her do whatever she wants.
That makes us feel better.
She eats a lot of cookies.

She stands up in the tub.


She skips her chores,
and does pointless things
like stacking rings on a stick.


Have we lost all hope?

Getting Out

Scout has been sick.
We thought
if she got out of the house
she might feel better.



It made us feel better.
As for her,
indifferent at best.


In the beginning
I carried her on my shoulders.


But she got heavy fast.
Why can't she walk?
She only laughs at me.


Mom came to the rescue.
I think they
gang up on me.

Scout's brother Adam
and his wife Rachel came to visit.

Scout told them that all she needed
was just one pony.

Scout thinks it is getting cold.

She is used to 100 degree weather.

She has no idea.

Thinking about Halloween

Scout was thinking about what to be for Halloween when she came across a book about bugs.

I said that she should be a stinkbug.
She wanted to be a lady bug

I still think she smells like a stinkbug.

Ten Months

Scout is 10 months old today.
She talks all the time.

She sometimes says Mama.

She sometimes says Dada.

Now she says Obama.
Weird.

Hair Do or Hair Don't?

Scout's hair is finally growing, but just on the top. This really limits her style to just this one look.

I think it works, but that would be a whole other story if she were sixteen.

San Francisco

Wendy had to go to a conference in San Francisco for her job. Since her room and travel were already paid for I thought that Scout and I would tag along. I just had to pay for my airfare since babies fly for free. It was really fun. Scout loved all the adventures that the big city had to offer.

She did great on the airplane and the public transportation. She made a lot of friends in the close proximity. Sometimes she befriended people that kind of scared me.

I guess it was pretty good for her. She got to be pushed around in the stroller all day.

We did a lot of stuff. She even got her first ride on a merry go round. She liked it a lot.

She was in a constant state of awe. There was so much to see. It was very different than home.

Anal Probe

I was not abducted by aliens, but there were many similarities. I have some episodes of lost time and I was anally probed. These are a few snapshots I was given to remember the experience. It's pretty much all I got for my 50th birthday. Who could ask for more?

Six Months Old

Sorry I have taken so long to post to the blog.  We have been really busy.  It's funny how much time one little baby tends to monopolize.  It's harder than I thought.

Scout is always on the go.  She would much rather go for a drive than stay at home.

She is still little, but she's getting bigger.  On the growth charts she is up to the fifth percentile.  She's not scrawny she's just petite.

To her life is a party.  She never has to go to school or work, in fact she never really has to do anything but goof off.

I wish my life were like hers.  She makes me do everything.  She is so lucky.
